Turning a corner...

The first fresh sugar snap peas are ready....A landmark timewise in the vegetable garden. This crop has been brought on extra early; given the shelter and warmth afforded by the polytunnel.

Not the easiest on the eye; in terms of landscape feature; some might say.

But folks expect vegetables out of season these days; and no amount of love and compost on their own would get a harvest like this; unprotected; in May.

The first of anything brings excitement. Maintaining enthusiasm after months of picking?  Appreciation from the consumer makes a big difference.

And of course; willing hands to help gather them in.
